These are the cupcakes...

...that almost gave me a nervous breakdown. It all started as a cute picture in a magazine. Then came the need for cupcakes at a certain little boy's kindergarten graduation. Then the excitement, the buying of ingredients, and the night before coming all too soon. Realizing I had to make cupcakes for baseball the following day as well, I decided to nearly triple the recipe which I of course had to make from scratch. Then I discovered I could only do one batch at a time since I only had one cupcake pan. Okay, that's alright. Then I baked them. They were not 'kid-able.' I liked them, but they were dense, and not you average hostess cake. So after baking five batches, I ran to the store to get a box mix of stuff kids find palateable. Two batches later and an hour past my bedtime I had twenty four kid friendly treats. Unfrosted. They could wait 'till the morning. I neatly stacked them in a tupperware container, and went to bed. Upon waking early the next morning, I discovered the stacked cakes had stuck together. After carefully peeling them apart, I took to my next task- coloring the frosting. Whoops, there is no yellow coloring. Well who needs yellow sunflowers anyway? How about purple? Works for me! After an hour of tedious frosting, and catching up on Miss Guided, here's what I came up with:

Kind of cute, huh? We won't even talk about the batch of baseball cupcakes, with each players name neatly written on them, that a certain small girl decided to dig into five minutes before heading out the door, giving her brother a heart attack. I foresee many years of this same situation, and hopefully I can learn from my um...unpreparedness.
